Q: Do you sell single or double blinds, and what are the dimensions?

A: You can now download either the 4' X 4' single blind or the 4' X 8' double blind from DeerBlindPlans.com.  These sets of plans include detailed step by step instructions including how to customize the blind for your height and chair height.

Q: What will I receive when I order these plans?

A: Upon payment, you will be transferred to a site to download your choice of a Zip file (.zip) or a self extracting zip file (.exe) that includes plans in both a text file (.txt) and a rich text file (.rtf) format that can be opened from any text editor or word processing program. In addition, you will get full color pictures, as well as technical drawings detailing the process. The plans include a full materials list, buying tips, carpentry tips, and step-by-step instructions, created by a carpenter and hunter with over 30 years of experience!

Q: Can the plans be mailed to me?

A: No.  The cost of printing 10 pages of instructions and 30 drawings / pictures and the cost of postage would exceed the $9.95 we charge.  The only way to receive the plans is to download the plans after purchase.

Q: Do you offer plans for elevated blinds?

A:  No.  We were advised against this by our legal counsel, because of the inherent liability issues.  If you choose to elevate the blind yourself do so at your own risk.

Q: Can another method of payment other than PayPal be used?

A: No, we do not accept payment by check nor are we able to process credit card payments over the phone.  A PayPal account is not needed to make a purchase.  PayPal offer the most secure way of payment. 

Q: How long will it take to download the file?

A: Each file (only one is necessary to download) is less than 1 megabyte. This should take between thirty seconds and twenty minutes to download, depending on your connection speed.

Q: Why not buy pre-fabricated deer blinds?

A: Pre-built deer blinds are typically very costly, too bulky to easily move outdoors, and difficult to store. The blinds that you will build using these plans are easily disassembled for transportation and storage, and cost considerably less.

Q: How much do the deer blind plans, pictures, and drawings cost?

A: DeerBlindPlans.com charges a reasonable $9.95 for the step-by-step instructions, full color pictures, and technical drawings, and the ease and speed necessary to download within minutes!

Q: What is the estimated cost of materials?

A: The approximate cost of building a 4x4 was $130 based on prices at a national home improvement chain in Houston, Texas in May 2000 when we put the plans together.  I think the last blind we built was about $180.  The cost of the 4x8 in Oct 2005 was $270.  The prices can vary from place to place depending on the price of lumber.

Q: What safety precautions should I take when building this blind?

A: As always, use the utmost care when handling power tools. If you are under the age of 18, you MUST have parental supervision! This blind is intended to be a ground blind only - if you choose to elevate the ground blind, do so at your own risk.

Q: I was not returned to your website after purchase.  What do I do?

A: Not a problem.  Please email support@deerblindplans.com with your name, receipt number, blind size you purchased, and date of purchase.  Make sure the information you provide in the email is consistent with the information on your receipt from PayPal.
